babymetal is kinda special for me. this whole "industry plant" thing gives me some really cynic endgame-capitalism-vibes. this gives their music a rather weird black metal attitude through the subtext. this attitude is not part of the music, but its still there somehow (atleast for me it is). im into weird dystopian music, and babymetal really ticks that box (atleast for me)

I was 20 in 1991. I have always listened to almost all genres of music except country. So I thoroughly enjoyed the late 80s pop garbage with the exception of Vanilla Ice. I don’t know who the hell liked him apparently a lot of idiots. But I just want to come here and clarify for you Because I was significantly older than you at the time so had more cultural awareness guns and roses was most definitely not part of the hair metal bands of the 80s. Those bands specifically were poison, Cinderella, winger, warrant, etc. Guns N’ Roses came to fame because Metallica, specifically Lars promoted them in interviews and took them on tour. So please don’t slander Guns N’ Roses as a hair metal band. I would argue that they were a blend of 70s metal in the form of Black Sabbath crossed with Led Zeppelin and Los Angeles punk, but certainly not poppy hair metal. And for those who might not know this, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden heavily promoted Nirvana in every interview he had in every magazine prior to Nirvana releasing Nevermind. Those Seattle bands really had each other‘s backs! anytime they were interviewed, with the exception of everyone’s favorite martyr, they would refer to each other just to get their names out. And someone here already commented, but never mind really did not become popular and blow up until 1992. Anyway Gnat 5eva! 🎉

Finn I know you hate Europe but it will be interesting that you would talk to us, if you want, about how influential was Europe in the development of the genre I mean, since the black metal scene in Norway, the Gothenburg scene and how influential was to metalcore bands, the Djent revolution, the important industrial and post-punk scene in East Europe, the symphonic metal bands that cane in late 90s, and many more. I think many metalheads forget that metal and rock was designed since their beginnings to apeal teenagers and young people. Right now videogames and anime are popular among teenagers, so that's why Babymetal is popular. But no, these metalheada think that Bon Jovi is tha shit or that any band who doesn't have riffs and solos like Van Halen is garbage. Just guys who still think they're in highschool in the 80s

When I was a teenager I hated that music, and everything related to the emo scene/aesthetic, I remember having discussions on internet on how bad this scene was, "it's a disgrace to rock and metal". I was that edgy guy who wanna be different. Only recently, thanks to your videos, I realized that actually it wasn't that bad, and since I am a fan of At The Gates I right now enjoy a lot of metalcore and deathcore bands. I'm more of fan of the classics like Slayer, Slipknot and so on but...there where a few good Metalcore bands. I remember going to concerts with my daughter in the 2000's and enjoying the Metalcore bands.

I've always been a little confused about your channel name, I think you're going for "a high level of knowledge about punk rock" but every time I see it I think Punk Rock Masters of Business Administration and I get confused, love the channel though. I swear I'm not trolling I'm curious.

I discovered them by accident on RUclips, which lead me down the rabbit hole to Japanese metal bands.I have been listening to the same metal bands for 30-40 years, Metallica, Megadeth etc. I was starving for something new and different. Hell, even the lyrics are different, it's in Japanese! Babymetal started it all for me. I found Unlucky Morpheus, one of my favorites, thanks to Babymetal.

Nice video. I'm a 49-year-old metalhead hooked to BABYMETAL since I first listened to them. I don't watch anime or play video games. Last year was my first time going to a BABYMETAL show and I can say that I need more, it's my favorite show ever followed by Bolt Thrower and Dismember (Death-Metal is my favorite genre) They now have the Western KAMI BAND playing on all shows since 2023 Chris Kelly on guitar, CJ Masciantonio on guitar, Clint Tustin on bass, Anthony Barone on drums
